چکیده

Phenol in industrial effluent is a major under-reported pollutant of concern to the aquatic ecosystem. In current study, was obtained from Eleme Petrochemical Limited, Rivers State Nigeria. Baseline analyses were conducted ascertain physico-chemical and microbiological parameters. Exogenous bacterial species isolated crude oil polluted Ogoniland. The inoculum standardized using MacFarland approach. About 1% seeded into 100 mL for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Micrococcus sp, Bacillus tequilensis consortia. setup monitored Gas Chromatography-Mass spectrophotometry while acute toxicity calculated Probit method. set-up with aeruginosa 718.8 mg/L consortia had 941.2 mg/L. phenol residues reduced by 100% 2-nitrophenol 5.13 µg/L 0.82 on 10th day study. remarkable reduction use microbial cultures goes show efficiency locally sourced feedstock as tools degradation pollutants. There an urgent need academia develop robust bio-mining culture collection centers futuristic commercial use.

Bacterial Biodegradation of Crude Oil Using Local Isolates

An experimental study was undertaken to assess the efficiency of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, and Acinetobacter lwoffi isolated from petroleum contaminated water and soil samples to degrade crude oil, separately and in a mixed bacterial consortium. Capillary gas chromatography was used for testing the effect of those bacterial species on the biodegradation of crude oil. Individual...

Biodegradation of Effluents from Dairy Plant by Bacterial Isolates

Micro flora of the effluents from a dairy factory in Tehran(Pegah Dairy Processing Plant) were isolated and screened for their ability to reduce the organic matter content and COD of the effluents. 10 bacteria were selected due to  reduction in COD content from the 4th to 6th day of incubation at 30 °C and  pH =11. Highest COD reduction were obtained by two isolates, BP3...

Microbial enhanced heavy crude oil recovery through biodegradation using bacterial isolates from an Omani oil field

BACKGROUND Biodegradation is a cheap and environmentally friendly process that could breakdown and utilizes heavy crude oil (HCO) resources. Numerous bacteria are able to grow using hydrocarbons as a carbon source; however, bacteria that are able to grow using HCO hydrocarbons are limited. In this study, HCO degrading bacteria were isolated from an Omani heavy crude oil field. They were then id...

Phenol biodegradation by bacterial strain O-CH1 isolated from seashore

phenol and phenolic compounds are among the most recognized environmental pollutants which exist in industrial wastewater and enter the biological cycles due to the solubility in water. Bioremediation is one of the cost-effective and Eco-friendly methods for phenol removal. In this study, the most effective phenol-degrading bacterial strain was isolated and identified from the shores of the Oma...
